The largest producing theatre in Wales, Theatr Clwyd, will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year with a season of new writing and revivals.

Led by Artistic Director Kate Wasserberg, Theatr Clwyd in Wales will stage three new productions for 2026: Under Milk Wood, Twelfth Night and Atlantis.

Welsh classic Under Milk Wood by Dylan Thomas is the first show to be revived, directed by Kate Wasserberg, and is a co-production with Craidd, which works to improve the lives of deaf and disabled people in Wales. Every performance will have British Sign Language, captioning and audio description woven into it.

Under Milk Wood will play from 16 March to 4 April 2026, before touring to Cardiff, Milford Haven and Bangor.

Next up is a sparkling new production of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, directed by Juliette Manon.

Manson described the play in a statement as “a celebration of love, identity, and of the beautiful, messy chaos of being human.”

Twelfth Night is playing from 25 April to 16 May 2026, and then plays the Sherman Theatre in Cardiff.

Finally, climate drama Atlantis by George Devine Award-winner Emily White is staged.

Directed by Guy Meirion Jones, Atlantis is playing from 6 June to 4 July 2026, co-produced with Chichester Festival Theatre.

Kate Wasserberg said: “I am delighted to share our 2026 Spring Season with audiences, celebrating Theatr Clwyd’s 50th birthday. With an award-winning new play, a fresh take on Shakespeare’s comedy of self-discovery, and a major new production of Wales’ iconic play, we’re celebrating the best of Welsh talent and offering something for everyone.”

Public booking for the season opens on 7 October.
