Casting has been announced for the London return of Mark Gatiss’s smash-hit show A Christmas Carol – A Ghost Story at the Alexandra Palace Theatre.
Back for a third Christmas season in London, A Christmas Carol – A Ghost Story is playing at Alexandra Palace Theatre from 22 November 2025 to 4 January 2026.
The show will star Neil Morrissey (Men Behaving Badly, Waterloo Road, Oliver!, Neville’s Island) as Jacob Marley, and Matthew Cottle (Bridgerton, Woman In Mind, The Windsors) returning as Scrooge.
They are joined by Charlotte Bate as Mrs Cratchit, Michaela Bennison as Caroline, Jacob Daniels as Swing, Henry Davis as Bob Cratchit, Maya de Faria as Swing, Elliot Douglas as Tiny Tim, Michael Mears as the Narrator, Kalifa Taylor as Belle, Mark Theodore as Ghost of Christmas Present and Lance West as Fred.
Mark Gatiss’s show brings Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol story to the stage blended with a spine-tingling ghost story set within a supernatural Victorian world.
Directed by Adam Penford (The Clothes They Stood Up In, The Madness of George III), the acclaimed production first premiered at Nottingham Playhouse in 2021, transferred to London’s Alexandra Palace Theatre, and was then released in a filmed version in UK cinemas in 2022 and shown on BBC4 over the Christmas period. The production returned to both Nottingham Playhouse and Alexandra Palace in 2023.
The creative team also includes designer Paul Wills, lighting designer Philip Gladwell, sound designer Ella Wahlström, video designer Nina Dunn, movement director Georgina Lamb, and composer Tingying Dong.
