The Trafalgar Studios opened in London

The Trafalgar Studios – originally called the Whitehall Theatre – opened in London on 29 September 1930.

Currently home to Jamie Lloyd’s Trafalgar Transformed season, his production of Richard III starring Martin Freeman finishes this Saturday (27 September 2014). Next up is East is East starring Jane Horrocks from 4 October 2014.

Paul Raymond turned the theatre into a tourist museum called The Whitehall Theatre Of War in the late 1970’s!

It was refurbished and reopened on 5 March 1986 with J. B. Priestley’s When We Are Married.

The Whitehall Theatre closed on 15 November 2003 for major reconstruction work and the theatre was split into two studio auditoriums, renamed the Trafalgar Studios, and reopened with the RSC’s Othello on 3 June 2004.
