West End, Broadway and TV star Julian Ovenden is set to perform a series of solo concerts in cathedrals across the UK.
Julian Ovenden: The Cathedral Tour will see the Bridgerton and Downton Abbey actor perform a magical evening of music in some of the country’s most beautiful and historic cathedrals.
The concerts will take place in Glasgow, Ely, Lincoln, Lichfield, Chester, Cardiff and Selby from 7 to 17 January 2026.
From his early days singing in the St Paul’s Cathedral Choir to earning a music scholarship to Eton College, Julian’s extraordinary journey is steeped in musical tradition. The son of Reverend Canon John Ovenden, former chaplain to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Julian was born into tradition but has carved a space uniquely his own.
Ovenden recently performed in concert at His Majesty’s Theatre in London’s West End, following sell-out concerts at Chichester Festival Theatre and Cadogan Hall. He also starred in Little Dancer – A New Musical in Concert at Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
One of the UK’s leading musical theatre stars, Ovenden won an Olivier Award for South Pacific and has appeared in productions including Michel Legrand’s Marguerite opposite Ruthie Henshall, My Night With Reg at the Donmar Warehouse and in the West End, and Ivo van Hove’s All About Eve alongside Gillian Anderson. His stage credits also include Sondheim classics Merrily We Roll Along and Sunday in the Park with George, as well as Finding Neverland and Maury Yeston’s Death Takes A Holiday.
Beyond the stage, Ovenden has headlined at world-class venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Sydney Opera House, Carnegie Hall and London Palladium. On screen, he is widely recognised for his roles in Downton Abbey and Bridgerton.
The concert tour is produced by Lambert Jackson Productions, who are also behind Samantha Barks Live Cathedral Tour this November and Collabro – The Harmonies Tour next year, both in UK cathedrals.
