Shakespeare’s Globe has announced casting for its forthcoming production of Troilus and Cressida.

Directed by Owen Horsley (Twelfth Night), Troilus and Cressida is playing at Shakespeare’s Globe from 26 September to 26 October 2025.

The show stars Samantha Spiro (Merrily We Roll Along, Game of Thrones) as Pandarus / Nestor, Kasper Hilton-Hille (That Face) as Troilus, Charlotte O’Leary (Jerusalem) as Cressida, Jodie McNee (Minority Report) as Ulysses / Cassandra, Oliver Alvin-Wilson (Dr Strangelove) as Hector / Calchas, David Caves (Silent Witness) as Achilles, Conor Glean (Romeo and Juliet) as Diomedes, Jonathan Livingstone (Machinal) as Agamemnon, Tadeo Martinez (Hamlet) as Patroclus / Alexander, Lucy McCormick (Triple Threat) as Thersites / Helen, Matthew Spencer (The White Factory) as Paris / Menelaus, and Ibraheem Toure (Foundation) as Ajax. The Ensemble / Covers are Tilly Botsford (The Welkin) and Finn O’Riordain (Julius Caesar).

Shakespeare’s genre-defying satire on the cult of celebrity is set during the Trojan War. The legends of Greece and Troy are gripped by an epic war, fighting for honour and bravery. As a thrilling, action-packed battle rages around them, Trojan prince Troilus falls deeply in love with Cressida, and they swear their eternal love… Fast forward eight years, and everything has ground to a halt in a seemingly pointless, exhausting conflict with no resolution in sight. The manufactured glamour of war is losing its sheen in Troy, and the Greek camp is an apocalyptic wasteland.

The wider creative team for Troilus and Cressida includes design by Ryan Dawson Laight, with Christophe Eynde as Associate Designer and Roberta Zuric as Associate Director. Eamonn O’Dwyer serves as Composer, with Fight and Intimacy Direction by Rachel Brown-Williams and Ruth Cooper-Brown for RC Annie. Daniel Hay-Gordon is the Movement Director, and Emma Woodvine is responsible for Voice and Text. The production was cast by Becky Paris CDG, Head of Casting at Shakespeare’s Globe.

Director Owen Horsley said in a statement: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be making my Globe directorial debut with Shakespeare’s bold and dynamic take on the Trojan War. Often considered Shakespeare’s most experimental work, Troilus and Cressida unleashes a full-throttle satirical assault on romantic love, hero worship, and political power. With a brilliant cast and creative team, we’re ready to free this remarkable play from the shadows and bring its sharp wit, raw energy, and biting commentary roaring to life.”

Troilus and Cressida is running at Shakespeare’s Globe from 26 September to 26 October 2025.
