Wicked extends London run as booking opens to May 2026, More photos released

The West End production of Wicked has announced a new booking extension, with tickets now on sale through to 31 May 2026 at London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre.

Now in its 19th year, the musical continues to draw audiences in huge numbers. Since opening in 2006, Wicked has been seen by over 12 million people in London alone, cementing its place as one of the most successful stage musicals of all time. In September 2024, the show celebrated its 18th anniversary, joining the ranks of the top ten longest-running shows in West End history. A further 400,000 tickets have now been released.

Producers of the show have also released more, brand new photos of the new cast of Wicked.

A refreshed cast in Oz

A new company took over in March 2025, with Emma Kingston (Heathers: The Musical) as Elphaba and Zizi Strallen (Mary Poppins) as Glinda. Carl Man, who previously played Fiyero in the West End, returns to the role.

Other principal cast members include Sarah Ingram (Legally Blonde) as Madame Morrible, Michael Matus (Singin’ in the Rain) as The Wizard, Hannah Qureshi (Hamilton) as Nessarose, David McKechnie (Standing at the Sky’s Edge) as Doctor Dillamond, Ross Carpenter (The Book of Mormon) as Boq, Laura Emmitt as Alternate Elphaba, and Lydia Gerrard as Standby Glinda.

The large ensemble includes Iroy Abesamis, Zac Adlam, Steph Asamoah, Meg Astin, Rebecca Bowden, Shaun Chambers, Erin Gisele Chapman, Grace Durkin, Onyemachi Ejimofor, Aaron Elijah, Aimee Hodnett, Nat Ingham, Holly Lawrence, Jemima Loddy, Josh Lovell, Rory Maguire, PaddyJoe Martin, JoJo Meredith, Ayden Morgan, Rina Punwani, Abbie Quinnen, Jemma Revell, Jeanie Ryan, Charlotte Anne Steen, Chris Tarsey, Hannah Taylor, James Titchener and Jacob Young.

Riding high after big-screen success

The renewed momentum for the stage show comes in the wake of the blockbuster success of the Wicked film adaptation, which was released in late 2024 and became a global box office hit. Directed by Jon M. Chu, the film starred Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda, winning over both audiences and critics while introducing the story to a new generation of fans.

Based on Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel, Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, the musical reimagines the Oz mythos through the story of two women whose friendship is tested by politics, prejudice and power. With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, the production is directed by Joe Mantello, with musical staging by Wayne Cilento.

The West End production is produced by Marc Platt, Universal Stage Productions, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt, and David Stone, with Michael McCabe as UK Executive Producer.
