Wilko: Love and Death and Rock ‘n’ Roll is transferring into the West End.
The show first premiered at the Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch in 2024, and is currently playing at Southwark Playhouse Borough until 19 April 2025.
Wilko will move to the Leicester Square Theatre in London this July, playing from 3 to 27 July 2025.
The true story of Wilko Johnson, Dr Feelgood co-founder and rock ‘n’ roll pioneer, Jonathan Maitland’s (The Interview, An Audience With Jimmy Saville) biographic gig theatre musical brings to life his words and music.
The show will star the current cast, including Johnson Willis as Wilko Johnson, Jon House as Lee Brilleaux, Georgina Fairbanks as Irene Knight, Georgina Field as Sparko, and David John as Big Figure.
Directed by Dugald Bruce Lockhart, the creative team also includes Designer Nicolai Hart-Hansen, Lighting designer James Stokes, and Sound designer Simon Slater.
Wilko Johnson is the iconic rock star and co-founder of legendary band Dr Feelgood. In 2012, Wilko was told he had one year to live, and refusing all treatment, he decided to spend his last months living meaningfully: seeing the people, places and things which meant most to him during his remarkable life… until a miracle happened.
Delving deep into the life and times of this rock ‘n’ roll maverick, from his time with Dr Feelgood and Ian Dury and the Blockheads as one of the godfathers of the punk movement, to his acting career in Game of Thrones, the play blends live music, storytelling, and words from the Canvey Island legend himself, in a lesson in how to live life to the fullest.

Wilko: Love and Death and Rock ‘n’ Roll is playing at Southwark Playhouse Borough until 19 April 2025; and at Leicester Square Theatre from 3 to 27 July 2025.
