Production photos of Dada Masilo – Swan Lake at Sadler’s Wells Theatre
17 and 18 June 2014
The annual Sadler’s Sampled festival at Sadler’s Wells kicked off this week with young South African dancer and choreographer Dada Masilo and her interpretation of Swan Lake.
In this new dance piece she uses a company of 13 male and female African dancers to revisit this classic Tchaikovsky ballet, and tackle issues including sex, gender and homophobia in a country confronting the impact of AIDS on its people.
Dada Masilo – Swan Lake is part of Sadler’s Sampled, a two week taster festival of dance at low price ( standing tickets from £8).
Currently playing at the Peacock Theatre – Sadler’s Well’s West End home – is Rock the Ballet, Rasta Thomas’ international hit dance show featuring the Bad Boys Of Dance.
