Production photos of Benvenuto Cellini at the London Coliseum
Award-winning director Terry Gilliam and ENO Music Director Edward Gardner reunite at English National Opera this season following their 2011 sell-out production of The Damnation of Faust.
This time they are tackling Berlioz’s rarely-performed Benvenuto Cellini, in a remarkable new production that exploits Gilliam’s inexhaustible imagination to the max.
This passionate tale of thwarted love, intrigue, disguise, and mistaken identity includes some dazzling set pieces including a Mardi Gras carnival.
An acclaimed cast includes tenor Michael Spyres in the title role, soprano Corinne Winters as Cellini’s lover, Teresa and always superb Willard White as Pope Clement VII.
Until 27 June 2014 at the London Coliseum
