The Broadway transfer of Southwark Playhouse’s hit production of Titanic has been postponed.
According to Playbill, the Broadway revival of Maury Yeston and Peter Stone’s Tony award-winning show has been postponed due to to the lack of an available theatre.
The show was to be directed by Thom Southerland, who directed the acclaimed 2013 production of Titanic at the Southwark Playhouse which won the WhatsOnStage and Off West End Awards for Best Production.
The show was to have had a pre-Broadway tryout at the Royal Alexandra Theatre in Toronto but the show’s producers – impressarios Barry and Fran Weissler, along with David Mirvish – have failed to find a suitable Broadway theatre for the show for the 2014-15 season. The run in Toronto has been canceled.
The producers are still hopeful of finding a venue for the show.
