The RSC’s new production of Hamlet directed by Rupert Goold is set to tour in 2026.

Following the show’s run in Stratford-upon-Avon from 8 February to 29 March 2025, the production will tour in 2026, with dates including Truro, Bradford, Norwich, Nottingham, Blackpool, Newcastle, York, and Canterbury.

Casting for the UK tour is to be confirmed.

An all-star cast is launching the production in Stratford-upon-Avon next month, including Jared Harris (Chernobyl, The Crown, Mad Men) as Claudius; Luke Thallon (Cold War, Patriots) as Hamlet; Nancy Carroll (The Cabinet Minister, After The Dance) as Gertrude; Anton Lesser (Endeavour, Game of Thrones, Wolf Hall) as the Ghost and the Player King; Elliot Levey (Patriots, Giant, Cabaret) as Polonius; Kel Matsena (Dear England) as Horatio; Lewis Shepherd (Dear England) as Laertes; and Nia Towle (A View From The Bridge) as Ophelia.

The production is described as “high concept” by award-winning director Rupert Goold (Dear England, Patriots, Tammy Faye, Judy), who is outgoing artistic director of the Almeida Theatre, and incoming artistic director of The Old Vic.

The Stratford cast also includes Chase Brown as Rosencrantz, Tadeo Martinez as Guildenstern, Miranda Colchester as Second Player, David Mara as Voltemand, Evan McCabe as Francisco, Jack Myers as Marcellus, James Sobol Kelly as Cornelius / Priest, Jessica Temple as Messenger / Ensemble, and Joe Usher as Barnardo / Fortinbras; and the ensemble includes Shailan Gohil, Sophie McIntosh and Ed Mitchell.

Joining Rupert Goold (Dear England, Tammy Faye) in the creative team are Revival Director Sophie Drake; Set Designer Es Devlin; Costume Designer Evie Gurney; Lighting Designer Jack Knowles; Composer and Sound Designer Adam Cork; Movement Director Hannes Langolf; Video Designer Akhila Krishnan; and Casting Director Charlotte Sutton CDG.

Hamlet is playing at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon from 8 February to 29 March 2025.

News of the tour was announced today in the RSC’s 2025-2026 new season announcement, which included a new stage adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The BFG.
