Bill Kenwright Ltd has announced casting for the forthcoming UK & Ireland tour of Cruel Intentions: The 90s Musical.
The tour follows a successful run of Cruel Intentions at The Other Palace Theatre in London in 2024, where the show scored some great reviews from the critics.
The UK & Ireland tour will star Abbie Budden ([Title of Show]), who returns to the role of Annette Hargrove, with Will Callan (Les Misérables) as Sebastian Valmont, Nic Myers (Cabaret) as Kathryn Merteuil, Lucy Carter (Babies: A New Musical) as Cecile Caldwell / Marci Greenbaum, Luke Conner Hall (The Choir of Man) as Blaine Tuttle, Joe Simmons (Pippin) as Greg McConnell, Gabriella Williams (White Christmas) as Mrs Bunny Caldwell / Dr Greenbaum, and Kevin Yates (Ain’t Too Proud) as Ronald Clifford.
Completing the cast are Olivia Brookes (Mamma Mia!), Ben Fenwick (Heathers), Sophie Hutchinson (Heathers) and Onuri Smith (Jack and the Beanstalk).
The Cruel Intentions tour kicks off on 13 February at Windsor Theatre Royal, and travels to York, Wimbledon, Chelmsford, Cheltenham, Northampton, Manchester, Dublin, Aberdeen, Oxford, Bath, Malvern, Leeds, Hull, Darlington, Cardiff, Birmingham, Torquay, and Brighton. See full dates here.
Cruel Intentions: The 90s Musical is based on Roger Kumble’s cult movie starring Reese Witherspoon, Ryan Phillippe, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair. The movie was in turn inspired by the French novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses.
Created by Jordan Ross, Lindsey Rosin, and Roger Kumble, Cruel Intentions has a soundtrack of the greatest ‘90s pop classics, all performed live, including ‘Bittersweet Symphony’ by The Verve, R.E.M’s ‘Losing My Religion’, Natalie Imbruglia’s ‘Torn’, ‘The Sign’ by Ace of Base, Christina Aguilera’s ‘Genie in a Bottle’, TLC’s ‘No Scrubs’, Boyz II Men’s ‘I’ll Make Love to You’, *NSYNC’s ‘Bye Bye Bye’, Britney Spears’ ’Sometimes’ and many more.
The show is directed by Jonathan O’Boyle, alongside a creative team that includes Associate Director & Choreographer Gary Lloyd, Set & Costume Designer Polly Sullivan, Lighting Designer Nick Richings, and Sound Designer Chris Whybrow. The Musical Supervisor is Jeremy Wootton and Musical Director is Will Joy; and the Associate Choreographer is Emma Hunter, Intimacy Co-ordinator is Rebecca Reaney and Fight Director is Bret Yount.
