Bernadette Peters and ABBA to appear at Olivier Awards 2014

More details have been announced about this year’s Olivier Awards.

  • Michael Ball, Samantha Barks, Beverley Knight, Luke Treadaway, Ruth Wilson to present awards
  • Show performances include The Book Of Mormon, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Scottsboro Boys.

The Society of London Theatre has announced that Broadway star Bernadette Peters will perform at this year’s Olivier Awards, held at the Royal Opera House on 13 April 2014.

The two-time Tony Award winning star will fly into London especially for the awards, and sing a show-stopping number accompanied by the BBC Concert Orchestra.

Also at this year’s awards, ABBA’s Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus will reunite to celebrate 15 years of the hit show MAMMA MIA!

There will also be a special performance by international opera singer Joseph Calleja, who will finish the first half of the evening by singing E lucevan le stelle from Puccini’s Tosca.

All of this year’s Best New Musical nominees will perform at the show including The Book Of Mormon, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Once and The Scottsboro Boys.

There will also be performances from all the Audience Award nominees – Les Misérables, Matilda The Musical, The Phantom of the Opera and Wicked.


ITV has announced the time that it will air their Olivier Awards highlights package: 10.15pm on 13 April 2014 on ITV.

The ITV Stage in Covent Garden Piazza will also be presenting a free Olivier Awards celebration from 5pm on the day. Hosted by Myleene Klass and Michael Xavier, the free event will feature live performances from shows including Avenue Q, Les Misérables, Matilda The Musical, Urinetown and Wicked.

Large screens in the Piazza will broadcast the Awards live from 6.30pm.


Gemma Arterton and Stephen Mangan will be hosting this year’s awards, with voiceover by Julie Walters.

Guest presenters will include Michael Ball, Samantha Barks, Kristin Davis, Lesley Garrett, Nigel Harman, Rufus Hound, Beverley Knight, Dame Penelope Keith, Robert Lindsay, Dame Gillian Lynne, Ben Miles, Alistair McGowan, Marianela Núñez, Lesley Sharpe, Mark Strong, Luke Treadaway, Gok Wan, Ruth Wilson and Leigh Zimmerman. More presenters and guests will be announced nearer to the night.

The BBC Concert Orchestra will be accompanying all performances under David Charles Abell.
