The acclaimed London production of The Picture of Dorian Gray starring Sarah Snook has confirmed a Broadway transfer to the Music Box Theatre in New York.

The show will play the Shubert Organization theatre from 10 March 2025, officially opening on 27 March, for a strictly limited 14 week run to June 2025.

The production is directed and adapted by Kip Williams, and enjoyed a hugely successful run at London’s Theatre Royal Haymarket earlier this year, scoring impressive reviews from the London critics.

Sarah Snook (HBO’s Succession) will make her Broadway debut in the play, where she performs all 26 characters, which is intricately choreographed through on-stage cameras to bring the story to life.

Kip Williams is the outgoing Artistic Director of Sydney Theatre Company. He announced back in April that he was stepping down after 13 years to concentrate on other projects. The Picture of Dorian Gray has been widely tipped to be heading to Broadway.

Hollywood star Cate Blanchett, who has a long association with Sydney Theatre Company, has also picked up the movie rights to the show.

The production extended twice in Australia in 2020 at Sydney Theatre Company.

Sydney Theatre Company’s The Picture of Dorian Gray is adapted and directed by Kip Williams, based on the novel by Oscar Wilde. The wider creative team includes Set and Costume Design is by Marg Horwell, Lighting Design by Nick Schlieper, Composition & Sound Design by Clemence Williams, Video Design by David Bergman, and Eryn Jean Norvill as Dramaturg & Creative Associate.

The Broadway production of Sydney Theatre Company’s The Picture of Dorian Gray is produced by Michael Cassel, Adam Kenwright, Len Blavatnik and Danny Cohen, Daryl Roth, Amanda Lipitz and Henry Tisch. Foresight Theatrical is the General Manager and Aaron Lustbader is Executive Producer. Michael Cassel Group is the worldwide Executive Producer.

The Picture of Dorian Gray is playing at the Music Box Theatre from 10 March 2025.

Tickets for the show go on general sale on 29 October 2024.
