The Menier Chocolate Factory in London has announced a new production for autumn 2024.
Actor and writer Nancy Carroll (After the Dance, Marjorie Prime) is set to adapt Arthur Wing Pinero’s The Cabinet Minister, for a new production at the Menier running from 21 September to 16 November 2024.
Nancy Carroll will also star in the show, playing Lady Katherine Twombley, with further casting to be announced.
Arthur Wing Pinero’s farce, a sparkling story of marriage, blackmail and class, is centred on the troubles of Sir Julian Twombley: his wife and son have run up massive debts and his political reputation is in the balance. The House of Commons is far from a safe space for him and the newspapers are sniffing blood. Can he save face and hang on to his sanity?
The production will be directed by Paul Foster (White Christmas, Gypsy), with set and costume design by Janet Bird, lighting design by Tim Mascall, sound design by George Dennis, composer and musical supervisor Sarah Travis, and movement by Joanna Goodwin.
Paul Foster and Nancy Carroll reunite following their production of Deep Blue Sea at Chichester Festival Theatre.
Currently playing at the Menier Chocolate Factory is Stephen Schwartz musical The Baker’s Wife starring Lucie Jones and Clive Rowe.
The Cabinet Minister is playing at the Menier Chocolate Factory from 21 September to 16 November 2024.
