International singer-songwriter and author Tom Fletcher (McFly, Christmasaurus, The Danger Gang, Space Band) is bringing his bestselling book The Creakers to the stage in a new family musical.
Tom Fletcher’s The Creakers: A Magical Musical Adventure will play the Southbank Centre’s Queen Elizabeth Hall from 18 December 2024 to 5 January 2025.
The show was announced back in February 2024, with The Creakers getting its world premiere at the Theatre Royal Plymouth this October 2024.
The Creakers has been adapted for the stage by writer Miranda Larson (Friendsical, Christmasaurus, Angelina Ballerina), with music and lyrics by Tom Fletcher.
The show will be directed and choreographed by Theatre Royal Plymouth Associate Director Tom Jackson Greaves (Whistle Down The Wind, Priscilla Queen of the Desert).
Additional compositions are by McFly’s Danny Jones and Dougie Poynter, and the show is co-written with Steve Battelle, with orchestrations by Grammy Award-winner Steve Sidwell. Further creatives are to be announced.
In the story, one morning Lucy, and the kids of Whiffington, wake up to find that all the adults have disappeared, and follows their epic, joyful and hilarious adventures in a new world.
Tom Fletcher said in a statement: “I’m so excited to finally be able to announce that our brand new stage adaptation of The Creakers will transfer to Southbank Centre’s Queen Elizabeth Hall at Christmas following its world premiere in Plymouth. I’ve been working closely with a brilliant team of creatives on the show, and can’t wait for audiences to get the chance to come and see the magical world we are creating for the stage.”
The show is produced by Impossible Producing, Smith & Brant Theatricals, Gavin Kalin Productions, Theatre Royal Plymouth and the Southbank Centre.
The Creakers: A Magical Musical Adventure is playing the Queen Elizabeth Hall from 18 December 2024 to 5 January 2025.
