The Old Vic’s new 2014 season starts with the UK premiere of Broadway play Other Desert Cities.
The play will be staged in the round, recreating the transformation of the auditorium that was first seen in 2008 with the Old Vic’s production of The Norman Conquests.
Jon Robin Baitz’s acclaimed play Other Desert Cities is a powerful family drama set in Palm Springs, and will be directed by Lindsay Posner. The play start previews from 13 March 2014.
Other Desert Cities had its world premiere at the Lincoln Center in New York in 2010 and moved to the Booth Theatre on Broadway in 2011 starring Rachel Griffiths and Stockard Channing. It won the Outer Critics’ Circle Award for Outstanding New Off-Broadway Play and five Tony nominations.
Jon Robin Baitz has written for stage and screen including the TV series Brothers and Sisters.
Lindsay Posner returns to the Old Vic to direct the show following Terence Rattigan’s The Winslow Boy starring Henry Goodman.
