Kiss Me, Kate at the Barbican Theatre photos released & new mid-week matinee added

Get a first look at production photos of the London stage revival of Kiss Me, Kate. Cole Porter’s Broadway comedy classic is now playing at London’s Barbican Theatre this Summer 2024.

Also check out behind-the-scenes rehearsal photos, below.

The production has also announced that new matinee days have been added to Kiss Me, Kate’s run at the Barbican, with Tuesday matinees playing instead of the evening performance from 9 July 2024 until the end of the run.

From the producers of Anything Goes, this lavish new revival stars Adrian Dunbar (Line of Duty) and Tony Award winning Broadway actress Stephanie J. Block (Into The Woods, 9 to 5) making her West End debut.

The stellar cast line up includes West End favourites Charlie Stemp (Mary Poppins, Crazy For You), Georgina Onuorah (Oklahoma!, The Wizard of Oz), alongside Nigel Lindsay, Hammed Animashaun, Jack Butterworth, and former Doctor Who actor Peter Davison.

The cast also includes Josie Benson, Jude Owusu, Carl Au, Jordan Crouch, Gary Milnere, James Hume, Alisha Capon, Shani Cantor, Maya de Faria, Amelia Kinu Muus, Jacqui Jameson, Lucas Koch, Alex Lodge, Nell Martin, Anna McGarahan, John Stacey and Harrison Wilde. Swings are Robin Kent, Barry Drummond, Emily Goodenough and Maddie Harper.

Featuring a company of 50, including a full orchestra, Cole Porter’s witty, jazz-inflected score features classic show-stopping numbers such as “Too Darn Hot,” “Op’nin’ Another Show,” “Dick or Harry,” “So In Love,” and “Brush Up Your Shakespeare.”

A charming homage to the sparkling wit of Shakespeare and an irresistible celebration of the joy and madness of working in theatre, this vibrant show-within-a-show throws together gun-toting gangsters, sparring actors, and romantic entanglements against the backdrop of a musical production of Taming of the Shrew.

Returning to London for the first time in a decade, this major revival is directed by Bartlett Sher, known for his recent productions of My Fair Lady at the London Coliseum and The King and I at the Dominion Theatre, London Palladium and UK tour.

The creative team also includes Choreography by Anthony Van Laast, set design by Michael Yeargan, costume design by Catherine Zuber, lighting design by Donald Holder, sound design by Adam Fisher, and musical supervision by Stephen Ridley.

Kiss Me, Kate is playing a limited Summer season at the Barbican Theatre to 14 September 2024.
