Stephen Daldry’s multi-award winning, epic production of JB Priestley’s An Inspector Calls is heading back out on the road later this year and in 2025.
Produced by PW Productions, the previous tour was heavily effected by Covid shutdowns and wrapped in 2023; and now a big new London and UK Tour is set to go ahead from Autumn this year.
The An Inspector Calls tour kicks off at London’s Alexandra Palace Theatre, playing from 30 August to 21 September 2024. The show then visits venues including Stoke, Darlington, Bristol, Belfast, Liverpool, Aylesbury, Salford, Norwich, Southampton, Shrewsbury, Hull, Blackpool, Wolverhampton, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Sunderland, Birmingham, Milton Keynes and London Wimbledon.
The now legendary National Theatre production, which scored 3 Olivier Awards, 4 Tony Awards and countless other awards, is directed by Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot, The Hours, The Crown, Stranger Things: The First Shadow). The creative team also includes design by Ian MacNeil, music by Oscar-winning composer Stephen Warbeck (Shakespeare in Love) and lighting by Rick Fisher.
JB Priestley’s 1946 masterpiece powerfully dramatises the dangers of casual capitalism’s cruelty, complacency and hypocrisy.
Director Stephen Daldry said in a statement: “We’re thrilled to be presenting another tour of An Inspector Calls and excited to be opening at the Alexandra Palace. When we first made this production at the National Theatre in 1992 we could never have dreamt that it would still be going 32 years later and be just as relevant today as it was when it was first written.”
