Rehearsal photos are in for Jez Butterworth’s brand new play The Hills of California – coming to the Harold Pinter Theatre from this week.

Award-winners, director Sam Mendes (The Lehman Trilogy) and writer Jez Butterworth (Jerusalem) are reuniting following their triumphant West End hit The Ferryman.

The Hills of California stars Laura Donnelly (The Ferryman, The Nevers, Outlander), Leanne Best (Sweat, Ripper Street, Line of Duty), Ophelia Lovibond (Minx, W1A, The Effect) and Helena Wilson (Vogue World, Jack Absolute Flies Again, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern) as the Webb family, plus Bryan Dick, Shaun Dooley, Corey Johnson, Richard Lumsden, Natasha Magigi, Nancy Allsop, Sophia Ally, Alfie Jackson, Lara McDonnell, Lucy Moran and Nicola Turner.

The play is a generational drama that rifles through decades of one family’s past, set in Blackpool during the long hot summer of 1976.

Joining Sam Mendes in the creative team are Designer Rob Howell, Lighting Designer Natasha Chivers, Composer, Sound Designer and Arranger Nick Powell, Choreographer Ellen Kane, Musical Supervisor and Arranger Candida Caldicot, Casting Director Amy Ball, Young Person’s Casting Director Verity Naughton and Associate Director Zoé Ford Burnett.

The Hills of California is produced by Sonia Friedman Productions and Neal Street Productions, and plays at Harold Pinter Theatre from 27 January to 15 June 2024.
