The Almeida Theatre has revealed casting for Yaël Farber’s new production of Shakespeare’s King Lear.

Joining the previously announced Danny Sapani (Hymn) as King Lear, are Hugo Bolton as Oswald; Oliver Cudbill as Duke of Burgundy / Curan; Edward Davis as Duke of Cornwall; Fra Fee as Edmund; Michael Gould as Earl of Gloucester; Akiya Henry as Goneril; Geoffrey Lumb as Duke of Albany; Alec Newman as Earl of Kent; Gloria Obianyo as Cordelia; Faith Omole as Regan; Clarke Peters as The Fool; Steffan Rizzi as Knight / Captain; Danny Sapani as King Lear; and Matthew Tennyson as Edgar.

Following her Olivier Award-nominated The Tragedy of Macbeth, Yaël Farber directs Shakespeare’s poignant, morally ambiguous, and subversive epic, King Lear.

Joining Yaël Farber in the creative team is Set Designer Merle Hensel; Costume Designer Camilla Dely; Lighting Designer Lee Curran; Sound Designer Peter Rice; Composer Max Perryment; Movement Director Imogen Knight; Fight Director Kate Waters; and Casting Director Julia Horan CDG.

Currently playing at the Almeida is their critically acclaimed production of Cold War, until 27 January 2024.

King Lear is playing at the Almeida Theatre from 8 February to 30 March 2024.
