Stevie and Tobias to start performances in Mamma Mia! at the Novello Theatre from 29 January 2024.

The grand final of ITV reality competition Mamma Mia! I Have a Dream took place last night, Sunday 10 December 2023, live at the Novello Theatre in London’s West End.

The prize was the chance to star as Sophie and Sky in long-running West End musical Mamma Mia!, and the winners were revealed as Stevie Doc and Tobias Turley.

After 8 weeks of singing, dancing, and acting against 12 other contestants, the pair took home the prize last night in a live final that saw the public vote for their favourites.

The final was a battle between the last 4 finalists – Stevie Doc, 22, a musical theatre teacher from Glasgow, Esme Bowdler, 23, a barista from Chester, Owen Johnston, 25, a theatre usher from Belfast and Tobias Turley, 23, a singing waiter from Somerset.

The TV show was filmed on an island in Greece where the Mamma Mia! story is set, and each week the theatre hopefuls were put through their paces with a series of workshops, where they were mentored by Mamma Mia!’s choreographer Anthony Van Laast and musical director Martin Lowe, under the watchful eye of the creator and global producer of Mamma Mia! Judy Craymer.

The judges got the 14 down to 4, and then the public voted in the grand final last night.

The TV show started with 14 Sophie and Sky hopefuls: Desmonda, Esme, Leah, Maddy, Maisie, Stephanie & Stevie; and Callum, Craig, Darcy, Marcellus, Owen, Tobias & Zachkiel. The finale TV episode saw performances recorded in Greece, combined with live action on the stage of the Novello Theatre in London, home to the West End musical Mamma Mia!
