Rehearsal room photos have been released for the London revival Ghosts starring Hattie Morahan.

Ghosts opens in the candlelit Sam Wanamaker Playhouse on Friday 10 November, the first time Ibsen will be staged at Shakespeare’s Globe, a dramatist whose influence is arguably second only to Shakespeare.

Hattie Morahan returns to the Globe for the first time since 2015 to play the seminal role of Helene. Adapted and directed by Joe Hill-Gibbins, the cast features Greg Hicks (Oklahoma!, West End) as Engstrand, Paul Hilton (The Glass Menagerie, Duke of York’s) as Father Manders, Sarah Slimani (The Winter’s Tale, Globe Theatre) as Regine Engstrand and Stuart Thompson (Spring Awakening, Almeida) as Osvald Alving.

A searing exploration of family secrets and forbidden desire, Ghosts caused scandal when it premiered nearly 150 years ago. Ugly truths from the past, and illicit romance threaten the lives of Helene and her son Osvald in the first modern tragedy by one of the most influential dramatists of all time.

This is the first time the Globe has ever staged a play by Henrik Ibsen in the candlelit Sam Wanamaker Playhouse.

Joe Hill-Gibbins is joined on the creative team by Costume and Set Designer Rosanna Vize, Costume Supervisor Megan Rarity, Globe Associate – Movement – Glynn Macdonald, Head of Voice – Tess Dignan, Intimacy Director – Haruka Kuroda and Associate Director – Lucy Wray.

Ghosts runs from 10 November – 28 January at Shakespeare’s Globe
