Eddie Redmayne is confirmed to star in the Broadway revival of Cabaret which opens at the August Wilson Theatre in spring 2024.
Redmayne will reprise his Olivier award winning role of Emcee alongside Gayle Rankin who is announced to play Sally Bowles.
Rebecca Frecknall’s acclaimed West End revival opens on Broadway this spring 2024, running from 1 April 2024 at the August Wilson Theatre
Redmayne said: “It was whilst playing the Emcee in a student production of Cabaret over 25 years ago that my love for theatre was properly ignited. It now feels completely thrilling and a little surreal to be a part of Rebecca’s truly unique vision of Masteroff, Kander, and Ebb’s brilliance as it arrives on Broadway, where the piece has such a history.
“I am beyond excited to be doing it arm-in-arm with the remarkable Gayle Rankin and a truly stunning cast and team. I am hoping we will create an experience for you quite unlike any other.”
Redmayne and Rankin are scheduled to play a limited run through to Saturday, 31 August. Starting on Monday 17 June, Redmayne will not perform on Monday evenings and Rankin will not perform at Wednesday matinees.
The August Wilson is set to be transformed into the Kit Kat Club using Tom Scutt’s extraordinary designs, as per the London production.
Our own London production of Cabaret continues to go from packed house to packed house. It is booking to 29 June 2024, and currently stars Jake Shears from the Scissor Sisters and Rebecca Lucy Taylor aka Self Esteem.
