The National Theatre’s NT Live is screening two major new West End shows.

Vanya starring Andrew Scott, which is currently playing at the Duke of York’s Theatre in London until 21 October 2023, is set to be screened in UK and international cinemas. Vanya will play from 22 February 2024.

Also the latest play from James Graham (Sherwood) – Dear England, which now playing at the Prince Edward Theatre starring Joseph Fiennes and directed by Rupert Goold, is set to be presented by NT Live. It will screen from 25 January 2024.

In November, the revival of Skylight by David Hare will get an NT Live showing. The 2014 drama that played the Wyndham’s Theatre in the West End stars Bill Nighy and Carey Mulligan, and was directed by Stephen Daldry. Skylight will screen from 16 November 2023.

Now playing in select cinemas is Yerma, the Young Vic’s production of Simon Stone’s play based on the Lorca classic, starring Billie Piper. Also coming up before Christmas are the National Theatre comedy Jack Absolute Flies Again, fantastical adventure The Book of Dust – La Belle Sauvage, and Shakespeare’s romantic tragedy, Romeo & Juliet starring Jessie Buckley and Josh O’Connor, all available for screenings from 19 October 2023.

Actor Andrew Scott said in a statement: “We put our heart and souls into creating this show together, and we are completely overwhelmed and thrilled with the response. I’m honoured and delighted that our version of this masterpiece can be watched by a wider audience through our colleagues at NT live. I’ve never been more convinced by the necessity and connective power of live theatre. Long may it reign.”
