Rehearsal photos are in for Cake: The Marie Antoinette Playlist starring Zizi Strallen and Renée Lamb

The show plays a limited West End season at the Lyric Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue from 20 to 24 September 2023.

Directed by Drew McOnie (In the Heights; Jesus Chris Superstar) with book by Morgan Lloyd Malcolm (Emilia), the show combines a multi-genre pop score with R&B and rap. The piece is set in 18th century France and is a retelling of the story of Marie Antoinette – the last Queen of France. It is billed as musical with a gig like feel and includes aspects of baller.

The ensemble is comprised of Ope Sowande (Moulin Rouge) and Elizabeth Fullalove (Starlight Express), also as ‘Jewellers’ with Travis Kerry (Hamilton), Dance Captain, and Jane Albertsen (Hamilton).

The show started its life as part of the new musical festival MTFestUK, and ran at the Turbine Theatre in London from 30 January to 11 February 2023, as well as a recent UK tour including The Lowry Salford and the Curve in Leicester.
