Behind-the-scenes photos have been released of rehearsals for Close Up – The Twiggy Musical, coming to the Menier Chocolate Factory in London.
This world-premiere production, about the life of British supermodel and Sixties icon Twiggy, will run at the Menier Chocolate Factory from 27 September to 18 November 2023.
The cast includes Elena Skye (We Will Rock You) as Twiggy, alongside Lauren Azania AJ King-Yombo as Kay, Matt Corner as Justin de Villeneuve, Darren Day as Michael Witney, Beth Devine as Sally, Aoife Dunne as Cindy, Hannah-Jane Foxas Nell Hornby, and Steven Serlin as Norman Hornby, plus Emma-Katie Adcock, Liam Buckland, Harriet Bunton, Leanne Garretty, Luke Johnson, David McIntosh, Danny Nattrass, Sydney Spencer, and Karen Walker.
The show is written and directed by Ben Elton (We Will Rock You), and charts Twiggy’s journey from becoming the face of London’s swinging Sixties, to the global stage.
The musical’s score features well-known hits that have been the soundtrack to Twiggy’s life.
The show’s creative team also includes Choreography by Jacob Fearey; Set and Video Design by Tim Bird; Costume Design by Jonathan Lipman; Sound Design by Gregory Clarke; and Musical Supervision, Direction and Orchestrations by Stuart Morley.
Following Close Up will be the Menier and Umeda Arts Theater’s co-production of Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman’s Pacific Overtures, directed by Matthew White.
