Disney’s Frozen The Musical at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane has revealed new casting for the show.
The big news is that Samantha Barks is staying with the show as Elsa. Samantha has starred in Frozen since it first opened at Drury Lane in September 2021.
Joining her as Anna will be Laura Dawkes, making her professional stage debut. She replaces current star Emily Lane (The Sound of Music) as Anna.
Also new will be Jammy Kasongo (Tina – The Tina Turner Musical) as Kristoff, replacing Djavan van de Fliert; plus Ashley J Daniels (King Agnarr) and Lizzy-Rose Esin-Kelly (Bulda).
Also staying in the show are Craig Gallivan (Olaf), Oliver Ormson (Hans), Richard Frame (Duke of Weselton), and Mikayla Jade and Ashley Birchall who alternate in the role of Sven; plus Ben Irish (Pabbie), Jacqui Sanchez (Queen Iduna), and Jak Skelly (Oaken/Bishop).
Continuing in the ensemble are Rhianne Alleyne, Marianne Bardgett, Rebecca Botterill, Laura Emmitt, Jemal Felix, Jordan Fox, Molly Francis, Matt Gillett, Dominic Adam Griffin, Jordan Livesey, Isabella Glanznig Santos, Justin-Lee Jones, Aoife Kenny, Harriet Samuels, Caitlin Tipping, Anna Woodside, and Rodney Vubya; and new to the ensemble are Oliver Brenin, George Hinson, Jonathan Milton, and Ed Wade.
The new cast starts in Frozen from 27 September 2023.
The show has music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, a book by Jennifer Lee, and is directed by Michael Grandage.
The creative team also includes choreography by Rob Ashford, set and costume design by Christopher Oram, lighting design by Neil Austin, sound design by Peter Hylenski, video design by Finn Ross, puppet design by Michael Curry and musical supervision and arrangements by Stephen Oremus.
Samantha Barks is set to be a judge on the forthcoming new ITV talent show “Mamma Mia! I Have a Dream”, searching for a Sky and Sophie for West End hit Mamma Mia!
Frozen is booking at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane to 7 January 2024.
