Producers of new Roy Orbison musical In Dreams have released behind-the-scenes video footage of rehearsals for the new show, and interviews with the creative team and stars.
The cast also sing classic Traveling Wilburys hit “Handle Me With Care”, written by Roy Orbison, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty and Bob Dylan.
Created by the successful & Juliet duo of director Luke Shepherd and writer David West Read, In Dreams was first announced late last year, and features music legend Roy Orbison’s most iconic songs.
The show begins performances next month at Leeds Playhouse, before then heading over to Canada, to run at Toronto’s CAA Theatre from September to December 2023.
The story centres on the former lead singer of a country rock band who, at a critical moment in her life, throws a party in a family-run Mexican restaurant to reconnect with old friends, while keeping her deeper motivations a secret.
The cast includes Tony Award-winner Lena Hall (Hedwig and the Angry Inch), and the West End’s Oliver Tompsett (Wicked, & Juliet, We Will Rock You, Pretty Woman, Kinky Boots), plus Noël Sullivan (Hear’Say, School of Rock), Manuel Pacific (West Side Story, City of Angels), Gabriela García (A Streetcar Named Desire, West Side Story), Sian Reese-Williams (Craith, Emmerdale), Alma Cuervo, Richard Trinder, Leon Craig, Mark Peachey, Fabiola Ocasio, Hannah Ducharme, and Pablo Gómez.
