The National Theatre has announced further details of the West End transfer of hit musical Standing at the Sky’s Edge.
The Olivier Award winning show will open at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in February 2024, with an initial booking period from Thursday 8 February 2024 to Saturday 3 August 2024.
Directed by Robert Hastie, with a book by Chris Bush and songs by Sheffield singer-songwriter Richard Hawley, the production was a huge hit at the National Theatre, and in Sheffield where it first began. The show won Best New Musical and Best Original Score / New Orchestration for Hawley’s music at the 2023 Olivier Awards. See here for a round-up of reviews from the national press.
The musical follows three storylines across three generations: Poppy wants to escape her old life in London; Joy and Jimmy want to spend the rest of their lives together; and Rose and Harry want the new life they’ve been promised.
