Accidental Death of An Anarchist starring Daniel Rigby to transfer to the West End

The Sheffield Theatre and Lyric Hammersmith revival of Accidental Death of An Anarchist is to get a West End transfer.

The hit show will run at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in London from 12 June to 9 September 2023.

Produced by Playful Productions, the transfer follows the play’s critically acclaimed, sell-out season at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre.

The production will once again star Daniel Rigby (Eric and Ernie) and Tony Gardner (Last Tango in Halifax), with full casting to be announced soon.

Tom Basden’s adaptation of Dario Fo’s classic farce is directed by Daniel Raggett, who is currently directing The Vortex at Chichester Festival Theatre.

The production is a bang up-to-date reworking of the classic comedy, that targets the ineptitude of the police force, ruthlessly exposing the corruption and incompetence of the institution.

Daniel Rigby’s central performance has proved a comic tour de force in Sheffield and Hammersmith.

Following Accidental Death of An Anarchist Daniel Rigby will star alongside Katherine Kingsley in the National Theatre’s new musical adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The Witches.
