Mark Gatiss’ A Christmas Carol – A Ghost Story will return to Alexandra Palace for Christmas 2023.
Gatiss’ celebrated retelling of Dickens’ classic winter ghost story will feature a brand-new cast with Gatiss confirming he will not appear as Jacob Marley this year.
Mark Gatiss said: “I’m delighted that my adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol is returning to Nottingham Playhouse and Alexandra Palace this year after such a successful outing last time. I’m sad to say, that having fulfilled my lifetime ambition of Jacob Marley, I shall be hanging up my chains, but I am extremely delighted and excited at the prospect of a new Scrooge and Marley to take up the reins for this festive season. I can’t wait to be part of it again and see it from the other side of the veil.”
A Christmas Carol – A Ghost Story will play the Alexandra Palace Theatre from 24 November 2023 to 7 January 2024.
Prior to its London run, A Christmas Carol – A Ghost Story will also return to Nottingham Playhouse for a pre-Christmas season, running from 27 October to 18 November 2023.
Directed by Adam Penford, A Christmas Carol – A Ghost Story is filled with Dickensian, spine tingly special effects. The creative team also includes design by Paul Wills (Shirley Valentine), lighting by Philip Gladwell, sound by Ella Wahlström, video design by Nina Dunn, movement by Georgina Lamb and music by Tingying Dong.
Casting to be announced.
