The Olivier Awards held its annual Nominees’ Celebration yesterday, 17 March 2023, to congratulate this year’s nominees, and to hand out their Industry Recognition awards.
In attendance at the celebration were notable nominees including Beverley Knight, Rose Ayling-Ellis, Rafe Spall, Rob Madge, and Giles Terera.
During the event at the The Londoner hotel, the Society of London Theatre (SOLT), the organisers of the Olivier Awards, also named the winner’s of this year’s Olivier Awards bursaries.
The Olivier Award bursary winners for 2023 are: Daniel Apea; Allie Aylott; Rebecca Bell; Christian Cooper; Neeve Dilworth; Conor Doran; Aimee Ebsworth; Jasmine Elcock; Charles Kofi Afedzi Entsie; Melodie Karczewski; Emily Kathryn; Yasemin Mutlu; Eliza Parry-Williams; Liam Prince-Donnelly; Abdul Sessay; Lindo Shinda; James Taheny; Eve von Elgg; and Shannon Watson.
The bursary scheme has been run by the Olivier Awards since 1987, supporting exceptional talent facing financial difficulties in their final year of drama school. Previous bursary winners have included Michaela Coel, Ewan McGregor and Michael Sheen.
SOLT Co-CEOs Claire Walker and Hannah Essex, and President Eleanor Lloyd, also honoured the recipients of the Olivier Awards’ Industry Recognition awards.
The four winners were director Pippa Ailion; Andrew Bruce, founder and Chairman of Autograph Sound Design; Amanda Parker, founder and former Director of IncArts UK; and finally Executive Chairman & joint Chief Executive of PW Productions Peter Wilson.
The Olivier Awards 2023 winners will be announced on Sunday 2 April 2023 at the Royal Albert Hall, hosted by Hannah Waddingham. ITV will show highlights of the awards later that evening.
