Stage Spy: James Corden to revive One Man, Two Guvnors in London’s West End?

James Corden plans to star in a London revival of Richard Bean’s hit comedy One Man, Two Guvnors, according to Deadline.

Nicholas Hytner, currently directing Guys & Dolls at the Bridge Theatre in London, told Baz Bamigboye of Deadline that Corden was looking to return to the stage following his departure from hosting American talkshow ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden’.

Corden will reprise his Tony Award winning role of Francis Henshall in late 2023 or early 2024, either at the Bridge Theatre or a West End venue. Corden previously worked with Hytner on The History Boys.

Hytner’s original production proved a major hit for the National Theatre, transferring to the Adelphi and Haymarket theatre’s in the the West End, the Music Box theatre on Broadway, followed by two UK tours and an international tour. Richard Bean’s English version of Carlo Goldoni’s classic Italian comedy The Servant of Two Masters, is a glorious celebration of British comedy – a unique, laugh-out-loud mix of satire, songs, slapstick and glittering one-liners.
