Kerry Ellis to star in A Midsummer Night’s Dream in Stafford

The Stafford Gatehouse Theatre has announced that Broadway and West End star Kerry Ellis is set to star as Titania Queen of the Fairies in their new production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

The production will play at the Gatehouse from 23 June to 9 July 2023.

Kerry Ellis recently starred in Anything Goes at the Barbican in London, and her other stage credits include Fantine in Les Misérables, Nancy in Oliver!, Grizabella in Cats, Elphaba in Wicked, and Meat in We Will Rock You.

Her fifth studio album – Kings and Queens – will be released in May, produced by Mike Stevens (Take That, ELO).

Kerry Ellis said in a press statement: “I am so excited to be joining the cast of A Midsummer Night’s Dream to play Titania, Queen of the Fairies. This will be a new challenge for me and I cannot wait to get going on my first Shakespeare play.”

Producer Mike Groves said: “We are beyond delighted to have Kerry in our cast; she is a huge talent and it’s a real coup for Stafford to get someone of her international standing on board. We are looking forward to delivering something special in Stafford this summer.”

Here’s hoping Kerry doesn’t get too much of a taste for plays – as we need her to star in A LOT MORE musicals!
