“If it’s a musical film, hit me up! That’s what I wanna do next”
Actress and singer Billie Piper wants to do a movie musical!
Talking to Buzzfeed recently to promote the return of her Sky series I Hate Suzie Too, the Doctor Who star said she would perform in a musical “in a heartbeat” – although sadly not on the West End stage.
She has ruled out performing in the West End because of the long runs and anti-social work days: “It’s really long and eight shows a week is quite a lot with a family” she said. “You’ll never put your children to bed and you won’t get to spend any Saturdays with them.”
But a movie musical is definitely in her sights: “If it’s a musical film, hit me up! That’s what I wanna do next.”
Movie musicals that Billie has her eye on include Cabaret, playing the lead role of Sally Bowles, a show which is currently playing on the West End stage at the Kit Kat Club; or Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats, playing the role of Grizabella, made famous by Elaine Paige.
“I’d be Grizabella from Cats, the prostitute cat. That was always the insinuation! She was just this absolute floozy”, she said.
Billie joining the current West End production of Cabaret playing Sally Bowles would be an absolute DREAM, so it’s sad she has ruled it out. But we live in hope.
