First look: Cabaret & Newsies at the Royal Variety Performance 2022

Hit West End shows Cabaret and Disney’s Newsies, which are both playing in London, have released videos of their performances at this year’s Royal Variety Performance.

The Cabaret video features the cast of the show including Madeline Brewer as Sally Bowles and Callum Scott Howells as the MC; and the Newsies video features the full cast of the show.

Other West End shows included in the night are Cirque Du Soleil’s KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities, which runs at the Royal Albert Hall from January 2023.

The Royal Variety Performance 2022 took place at the Royal Albert Hall on 1 December 2022, and will be screened by ITV tomorrow, Tuesday 20 December 2022, at 8pm on ITV1.

Hosted by Lee Mack, this years’s performance is in honour of Queen Elizabeth II’s long association with The Royal Variety Performance, and a special celebration will include Andrew Lloyd Webber, Take That’s Gary Barlow and musician Gareth Malone, accompanied by members of the London Youth Choir, performing a special version of ‘Sing’.

Other stars appearing in the show include Disco Soul R&B stars Nile Rodgers & Chic, Brit Award winner George Ezra, multi award-winner Ellie Goulding, Eurovision star and singer Sam Ryder, pop star Becky Hill, plus Hollywood star Rita Wilson and Grammy Award winner Gregory Porter  perform a duet, and Frank Skinner, David Baddiel and The Lightning Seeds perform a special rendition of their hit ‘Three Lions’.

The event is staged in aid of the Royal Variety Charity, and the money raised from the show helps those people from the world of entertainment in need of care and assistance.
