Here’s some news about backstage tours currently running in London. Check out our mini guide to West End Theatre backstage tours here.
Barbican Theatre
The Barbican Theatre’s popular backstage tour is finally back.
Running at 60 minutes, it covers a wealth of areas of the theatre including its impressive flytower.
You’ll also visit other backstage areas including the greenroom, stage wings and orchestra pit, and understand how the theatre was incorporated into the Barbican Centre’s original brutalist design.
Shakespeare’s Globe
Shakespeare’s Globe on the Southbank is running festive guided tours this December.
Their festive family tour is one hour, and you’ll come away knowing how the theatre works, and how Christmas was observed in Shakespeare’s time including the folk traditions that people practiced to welcome in winter.
From wassailing to the winter solstice, ‘kissing boughs’ to proper mince pyes, this fun tour is a great way to learn about the Globe.
Their regular backstage tours are also running – see more here.
Currently playing at Shakespeare’s Globe is family show The Fir Tree – book tickets here.
