Hit musical comedy Operation Mincemeat is to transfer into the West End.

Operation Mincemeat will play the West End’s Fortune Theatre from 29 March 2023 for 8 weeks only until 8 July 2023.

The news comes following sold-out runs for the show at the New Diorama Theatre in 2019 , the Southwark Playhouse at various points during 2020 – 2022, and the Riverside Studios from April to July this year.

Billed as Singin’ in the Rain meets Strangers on a Train, and Noel Coward meets Noel Fielding, Operation Mincemeat is a fast-paced, hilarious and totally unbelievable true story about the twisted secret mission that won us World War II. The question is, how did a well-dressed corpse wrong-foot Hitler?

Written and composed by SpitLip, made up of made up of David Cumming, Felix Hagan, Natasha Hodgson and Zoe Roberts, the show is directed by Rob Hastie.

The show features Choreography by Jenny Arnold, the Musical Director is Joe Bunker, Set and costume design by Ben Stones, Lighting design by Mark Henderson, Sound design by Mike Walker, and the Orchestrator & Musical Supervisor is Stephen Sidwell.

Operation Mincemeat has enjoyed great reviews for its various London seasons, with TimeOut calling the show a “glorious spoof musical” and The Stage a “masterclass of macabre musical comedy, masterfully performed”.

A movie version of the Operation Mincemeat true story was released by Warner Bros. in April this year, starring Colin Firth, directed by Shakespeare in Love director John Madden.
