Black British Theatre Awards 2022 Winners Announced

The Black British Theatre Awards have announced the winners for 2022.

Supported by the National Theatre, the Black British Theatre Awards were held last night, Sunday 16 October 2022, at the National’s Lyttelton Theatre.

Hosted by Danny Sapani, presenters included Clint Dyer, Giles Terera, Rachel John and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith.

Winning shows included The Wiz at Hope Mill Theatre, For Black Boys Who Have Considered Suicide When the Hue Gets Too Heavy at the Royal Court, and Domitius at Conway Hall.

Best actor categories went to performers including Michael Duke for Get Up Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical at the Lyric Theatre, Amara Okereke for My Fair Lady at the London Coliseum, Courtney Stapleton for Beauty and the Beast at the London Palladium and UK tour, Michael Fatogun for Foxes at Theatre 503 and Selina Jones for An unfinished man at the Yard Theatre.

American actor, dancer and choreographer Charles Augins took home the Lifetime Achievement Award.
