Timothy Hutton and Amanda Donohoe to star in The Sex Party at the Menier Chocolate Factory

The Menier Chocolate Factory has announced the cast of its forthcoming comedy The Sex Party.

The new play by Terry Johnson (Dead Funny, Mrs Henderson Presents) is running at the Menier Chocolate Factory from 4 November 2022 to 7 January 2023.

The comedy will star Oscar winner Timothy Hutton, who makes his UK theatre debut as Jeff, and Amanda Donohoe (LA Law, Liar Liar, Castaway) as a Russian called Magdalena. Jeff is billed as a shady businessman who hooks up with Magdalena to go to a swingers party in North London.

The party is hosted by the king and queen of North London swingers, played by Jason Merrells (Agatha Raisin) as Alex and Molly Osborne (Call the Midwife) as Hetty.

Other cast include Lisa Dwan (Top Boy), John Hopkins (Poldark), Pooya Mohseni (Law & Order:Special Victims Unit), Kelly Price (The English Game) and Will Barton (Theresa vs. Boris: How May Became PM).

The play sees four couples gather in a suburban London home for an evening of wine, cheese, and more intimate pleasures. Some are curious, some are more familiar, and one is rather unexpected!

Directed by Johnson, the comedy has design by Tim Shortall, lighting by Ben Ormerod and sound by John Leonard.

The Menier recently announced its new Autumn 2022 / Winter 2023 season, after being closed for nine months of renovations. Other shows include US writer and comedian Alex Edelman’s Alex Edelman: Just For Us, and the UK premiere of Marjorie Prime by Jordan Harrison, his 2015 play that was a Pulitzer Prize finalist.
