The National Theatre has revealed the full cast for musical Hex, coming to the National’s Olivier Theatre from 26 November 2022.
The National’s original production of this show in 2021 was delayed because of the pandemic, but will now go ahead over Christmas 2022, from 26 November 2022 to 14 January 2023.
The musical stars Michael Elcock as Bert, Rosie Graham as Princess Rose, Victoria Hamilton-Barritt as Queenie and Lisa Lambe as Fairy.
Other cast include Zaynah Ahmed, Marc Akinfolarin, Christopher Akrill, Sabrina Aloueche, Sonya Cullingford, Ben Goffe, Chris Jenkins, Kalisha Johnson, Amanda Lindgren, Michael Matus, Kody Mortimer, Neïma Naouri, Mark Oxtoby, Aharon Rayner, Olivia Saunders, Sasha Shadid, Rumi Sutton and Riley Woodford.
Hex is a retelling of Sleeping Beauty, and promises to be a mythic, big-hearted musical.
Directed by National Theatre artistic director Rufus Norris, Hex has a book by Tanya Ronder, music by Jim Fortune and lyrics by Rufus Norris. The musical’s original concept is by Katrina Lindsay and Rufus Norris.
The show has sets and costume designs by Katrina Lindsay, choreography by Jade Hackett, music supervision and vocal arrangements by Marc Tritschler, orchestrations by Simon Hale, music direction by Tarek Merchant, lighting design by Paul Anderson, sound design by Simon Baker and video design by Ash J Woodward. The consultant choreographer is Bill Deamer, and associate director is Séimí Campbell.
