Rehearsal images have been released for Blues for an Alabama Sky which begins performances at the National Theatre later this month.
Starring The Handmaid’s Tale and Orange Is The New Black actress Samira Wiley in her West End stage debut and Olivier Award winner Giles Terera (Hamilton), the play is set in 1930’s Harlem as its famous cultural renaissance is stalled by economic depression. Blues for an Alabama Sky tickets are sure to sell fast.
Lynette Linton directs a startling revival of this extraordinary play by poet & playwright Pearl Cleage which comes to a melodramatic conclusion but offers a riveting picture of Harlem at a moment of historic transition.
The cast also features Ronkẹ Adékoluẹjo (Three Sisters), Osy Ikhile (Sweat) and Sule Rimi (Barber Shop Chronicles).
