Production photos are in for Amy Adams in The Glass Menagerie at the Duke of York’s Theatre in London.

The six-time Oscar nominated actress makes her West End stage debut in Tennessee Williams’s masterpiece playing Amanda Wingfield – family matriarch and faded Southern belle who tries to get her son to bring round ‘gentlemen callers’ for her reclusive daughter.

Director Jeremy Herrin’s bold new staging of Williams’s semi-autobiographical play explores the fragility and fallibility of memory.

Adams is joined on stage by Paul Hilton (The Inheritance, A Very British Scandal) and Tom Glynn-Carney (The Ferryman, Dunkirk), who will share the role of Tom at different stages of his life, along with Lizzie Annis and Victor Alli.

The play’s creative team includes designer Vicki Mortimer, lighting designer Paule Constable, and video designer Ash J Woodward, with casting by Jessica Ronane. Also announced today is costume designer Edward K. Gibbon, composer and sound designer Nick Powell, and design associate Choy-Ping Clarke-Ng.

Amy Adams film roles include Junebug (2005), Doubt (2008), The Fighter (2010), The Master (2012), American Hustle (2013), Vice (2018), Sharp Objects and Dear Evan Hansen.

The Glass Menagerie is booking until 27 August 2022 at the Duke of York’s Theatre.
