Music Theatre International (MTI) has acquired the licensing rights of the Tony, Grammy and Olivier Award-winning musical Dear Evan Hansen, it has been announced.
Declared “one of the most remarkable shows in musical theatre history” by the Washington Post’s Peter Marks, Dear Evan Hansen features a book by Tony Award-winner Steven Levenson (Fosse/Verdon), a score by Grammy®, Tony® and Academy Award® winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land, The Greatest Showman), and direction by four-time Tony Award nominee Michael Greif (Rent, Next to Normal).
The Broadway production won six 2017 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, the Drama League Award for Outstanding Musical Production, two Obie Awards, a Drama Desk Award, two Outer Critics Circle Awards and two Helen Hayes Awards. The London production, currently playing at the Noël Coward Theatre, opened in November 2019, and went on to win three Laurence Olivier Awards, including Best Musical, and Best Original Score.

MTI’s London office, overseeing a European market from Iceland to Israel, typically licenses over 5,000 productions a year, from schools and amateur societies to professionals, reaching audiences of more than 6 million annually. MTI is co-owned by Freddie Gershon and Cameron Mackintosh.
Dear Evan Hansen currently has productions in London’s West End, on Broadway, and touring in North America. The London production starring Sam Tutty is currently booking until 22 October 2022 at the Noel Coward Theatre.
