Olivier Award-winner John Dagleish will star in the title role of Alexander Knott’s Cratchit, a new play reimagining the tale of Ebenezer Scrooge from the perspective of Bob Cratchit. Tickets for Cratchit are now on sale.
Running at the Park Theatre in London from 7 December 2021, it turns our that Ebenezer Scrooge wasn’t the only person to be visited by spirits one bleak and haunted Christmas Eve. In this thrilling new twist on a beloved Dickens classic, Bob Cratchit is taken on a time-bending journey through Christmas future.
Dagleish won the Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical for his performance in Sunny Afternoon at the Hampstead Theatre and Harold Pinter Theatre. Other theatre credits include Harlequinade and The Winter’s Tale for The Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company season at the Garrick Theatre; A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Young Vic; and, Common at the Royal National Theatre.
On screen John Dagleish is known for his portrayal of ‘Alf Arless’ in Like Rise to Candleford; Sky 1 comedy Starlings; HBO/Sky Atlantic psychological thriller The Third Day;as well as the films Christopher Robin, Justice League, Judy and Mary Poppins Returns.
He is joined on stage by Freya Sharp as Martha Cratchit, who’s previous work includes The Bandaged Woman and Nuclear War at the Old Red Lion.
Originally entitled December, the play was filmed and streamed from the Old Red Lion Theatre last year to great acclaim. Reworked, Cratchit now receives its live world premiere at Park Theatre this Christmas.
