John Bradley, Joe Dempsie, Katie Leung and Jamie-Lee O’Donnel have been cast in world premiere of Expecting, which opens at Riverside Studios on 30 January 2027.
Expecting, which is a new play from Scott Elmegreen and Drew Fornarola directed by Andy Sandberg, will star Game of Thrones actors John Bradley and Joe Dempsie, alongside Harry Potter actress Katie Leung and Derry Girls star Jamie-Lee O’Donnell.
The play will run from 30 January to 27 March 2027 at Riverside Studios on 30 January 2027, and explores why couples are waiting longer to have children, or debating whether to have them at all, following two couples navigating career ambitions, family planning and the fate of humanity.
Cast and creative team for Expecting

The cast of Expecting includes:
- John Bradley (Game of Thrones) as Matt
- Joe Dempsie (Game of Thrones, Skins) as Ethan

- Jamie-Lee O’Donnell (Derry Girls) as Trish

Mainstage Season 26/27 at Riverside Studios
Expecting will follow Sacrilegious – a new comedy by Oscar winner Tom Schulman (Dead Poets Society) – as part of Riverside Studios’ Mainstage Season 26/27.
The two productions will continue the Mainstage Season following the already-extended opener Affluenza, starring Noah Schnapp, which will run until 28 November 2026 due to high demand.
