Studio Canal has unveiled the teaser trailer for the screen adaptation of James Graham’s sell-out play, starring Jack O’Connell as Larry Lamb and Guy Pearce as Rupert Murdoch.

Studio Canal has released the first teaser trailer for the film version of INK, directed by Danny Boyle, following the success of the play – first at the Almeida and then in the West End.

Directed by Danny Boyle, the film had its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival on 2 September, opening the 83rd Biennale Cinema in competition, and arrives in UK and Ireland cinemas on 8 January 2027.

Fleet Street, 1969. Rupert Murdoch, an ambitious Australian outsider, sets out to tear up the sanctified traditions of British newspapers by launching what will become the country’s most influential title. His instruction to his new editor is blunt: give the people what they want, whatever the cost. What follows is the story of how one improbable gamble reshaped the entire face of British news.

Academy and BAFTA award winner Danny Boyle directs BAFTA winner Jack O’Connell (Cat On A Hot Tin Roof) as Larry Lamb, Academy Award nominated Guy Pearce (The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert) as Murdoch, and BAFTA-nominated Claire Foy (The Crown) as Jules Davies – a reporter for The Sun and Lamb’s mistress.

INK is based on the Tony-nominated play by multi-Olivier award-winning playwright and screenwriter James Graham (Dear England, Sherwood, Brexit), who has also written the screenplay.

The acclaimed play version of INK premiered in 2017 at the Almeida Theatre, followed by a West End transfer to the Duke of York’s Theatre, where it ran until 2018.

James Graham (This House, National Theatre / West End; Finding Neverland, Broadway) wrote the play, which was directed by Rupert Goold (Medea, Richard III, King Charles III, American Psycho) with design by Bunny Christie, lighting by Neil Austin, sound & composition by Adam Cork, video by Jon Driscoll and choreography & movement by Lynne Page.

The play starred Bertie Carvel (The Hairy Ape, Matilda) as Murdoch and Richard Coyle (Macbeth, Park Avenue Armory) as Lamb. Carvel later reprised the role of Murdoch, opposite Jonny Lee Miller as Lamb, when the production transferred to Broadway in 2019.
