They also announced two special fundraising events with acclaimed actors Simon Callow CBE and Lindsay Duncan CBE.

West London venue Riverside Studios celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and has announced a slate of new programming for the event. First up is a series of plays presented in rep, alongside two fundraising events.

REP: Radical Classical will stage five plats with significant links to the venue’s history. The selected plays include Anton Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard, Molière’s The School for Wives, Jean Racine’s Phaedra, Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure and finally Dario Fo’s The Virtuous Burglar.

Actors in conversation

In addition to the plays, the West London venue will also hold fundraising events in conversation with special guests. The first two have been announced today, with the expectation that more guests will be announced at a later date.

Distinguished actor Simon Callow CBE will take part in the In Conversation series in September. Callow has made the most appearances at Riverside Studios over the course of his career, with productions including Dickens’ Dr Marigold and Mr Chops, Shakespeare: The Man from Stratford and Juvenalia.

The event will see Callow will discuss his life and career as an actor, writer and director.

Following from Callow, Lindsay Duncan CBE will take part in the series in October. She last appeared at the venue in 1980, playing Portia in Peter Gill’s landmark production of Julius Caesar.
