The actor and West End star of 2:22 – A Ghost Story is trading the stage for the sequins, joining the celebrity line-up for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.
Actor Jaime Winstone is heading to the ballroom, joining the celebrity line-up for Strictly Come Dancing 2026. Winstone, 41, is well known on screen for films including Made in Dagenham, Kidulthood and Love, Rosie, and for her acclaimed portrayal of Barbara Windsor in the BBC biopic Babs — but theatre fans will also recognise her from the West End.
In 2023, Winstone took on the role of Jenny in the hit supernatural thriller 2:22 – A Ghost Story at the Apollo Theatre, joining the long line of stars to have led Danny Robins’ spine-chilling play during its West End run. She made her stage debut a little earlier, in a revival of Philip Ridley’s The Fastest Clock in the Universe at Hampstead Theatre.
“I am no stranger to a dance floor, but the ballroom is a whole new world for me,” she said of the Strictly challenge. “I love a challenge though, so can’t wait to enter my showgirl era and get super sparkly! Let’s get physical – see you on the dance floor!”
Winstone joins a line-up that includes EastEnders star Lacey Turner, Love Island’s Dani Dyer, Australian singer Delta Goodrem, House of the Dragon’s Bethany Antonia and Paralympian Dame Sarah Storey, with the launch show set for September.
